From the DCS

1)  August 7, 2010 is the traditional Filipino Pilgrimage to the Martyrs Shrine in Midland, Ontario.

BLD is a strong supporter of this collective pilgrimage.

We therefore encourage everyone to support and attend this Pilgrimage.
We will be joining the OLA Bus under the banner of BLD. The Formation Apostolate through the Intercessory Ministry has been assigned to
coordinate the bus reservation with Our Lady of Assumption.

Bus fare is $25/person (includes Shrine entrance and bus driver tip). One bus
can seat 48 persons. Assembly at OLA is at 6:30am;

Bus leave at 7:00am and returns to OLA from the shrine 4:30 pm.

Please see Ed & Cristy Samson, or their Intercessory Ministry representative to register and pay your Bus Fare.

The DCS will be joining the Pilgrimage.

2) Our Global Spiritual Director, Archbishop Lagdameo will be coming for a Pastoral visit to the BLD Toronto District, in August 10 to 12, 2010.

He will be giving an evening Recollection on Tuesday, August 10, 2010 from 7: 00 pm to 10:30 pm at the Our Lady of Assumption Church.

This Recollection is open to everyone.

We encourage everyone to attend the Recollection and be enriched spiritually. 

From the Youth Ministry:
 
July 23, 24 & 25, 2010. YE # 12 – We thank and praise the Lord for a very successful Youth Encounter No. 12 weekend with 42 candidates from Toronto and St. Catharines.  It was indeed an awesome sight to see all the young people actively participating as candidates or as working team members with so much enthusiasm and lots of energy inspite of the sweltering heat on the weekend.  We thank all our brothers and sisters in the community for assisting us during the weekend, for your donations and most of for all your prayers.   Thank you Tito Ed and Tita Lu for your endless assistance, guidance and support.  To all our adult members, sponsoring class, auxies and facilitators - thank you for all your hardwork and for a job well done.  All our sleeplessness, tiredness and sweats have been wiped away when one of the graduates said:  "This weekend has renewed my faith."  To hear these words is priceless .

August 13, 14 & 15, 2010 - Youth Interdistrict Conference - Long Island  A friendly reminder: If your child is a participant, we suggest that you check with the Youth Ministry if all the requirements have been met and to pick up some information about the weekend.  Please bring your child's notarized letter of consent and show his/her passport to the Youth Ministry tonight.  Next Friday is the last day to provide the required documents.  Please pray for all of us who will be travelling to attend the YIDC.

From 20th Anniversary Celebration Committee:

The FORMATION APOSTOLATE is scheduled to showcase their banners on Friday, August 6, 2010.  The parade will start promptly at 8:00 p.m. followed immediately by Mass.

Formation is to be coordinated by the Apostolate DCS and Ministry Heads.  There will be a brief podium introduction of the Apostolate and Ministries. Each Ministry should quietly wait for their queue and promptly enter the Church as soon as their Ministry is announced.
